Forward Food and Fashion

On Thursday, BCA GS members participated in the Forward Food & Fashion for a Sustainable Future competition hosted by the Columbia Climate School & Barnard Sustainability. Our team designed a dish and an outfit that reflected their vision for the future of sustainability in both food and fashion, drawing on their own perspectives as well as ideas gathered from the audience. In just five hours, both creations were built from concept to completion and presented to a panel of judges.
The dish featured minimal waste cooking techniques and plant-based protein, while the outfit incorporated upcycled textiles sourced from our local community. Both designs highlighted the creativity and resourcefulness at the heart of Green Scouts’ approach to sustainability. Events like this give our members a platform to experiment and share their vision for a greener future that is being built by young people today!
